Just A Faint Hope - That's All

An early start today but not a good preparation for the day s I didn’t get to bed until 2:30 speaking to Jane. I was on the phone to her for over 4 hours, my phone bill will hit the roof next month, but it’s Jane!

Outside toilet had to be used again in the freezing cold again but I was ready to rumble and off down the road for the bus. I waited 20 minutes but no bus either I was too late or there was no bus. Back home I went and rang Phil to pass the message on to Heather that I will be an hour late as I didn’t have her telephone number. 8:15 and I was waited for the 8:25 bus which came 10 minutes later, on time, it was rather full so I assume the first bus must have broken down and the passengers transferred.

Got to Phil’s and took Ethan over to the apartment and taught him for a couple of hours. Lovely lad! But I was a bit disorganised today and will take more time preparing next tomorrow, but it was a very emotional day yesterday.

Same routine as yesterday went into an internet cafĂ© for an hour to kill time before the bus came at 12:50 and finally got into Skalitza at about 13:30. To be quite honest this is ridicules. I will be leaving my house at 7:15 and returning at 13:45 all for two hour tuition, 6 and a half hours all for a net pay of 14 leva, about a fiver. And even then I have lesson preparation to do. A car is a must, but I can’t afford one! I could leave at 8:00 and be back here by 11:00, my overheads would be less than 5 leva and I could carry my resources with me.

As I walked home from the bus stop two builders picked me up in their Lada and said that my septic tank was full of water and it was a big problem. They drove into the village centre and got some hired workers to work on the front of the house getting rid of the dam by putting a constant gradient in place. We went back to my house and another chap turned up to do the water pipes.

The result with all the phone calls and back and forth with builders was:

  • Electric is back in the summer house
  • No water now in the summer house or the outside tap as the pipes need to be placed and I have no money
  • No water in my main house, the pipes are still frozen
  • No work done on the front, (the dam), the ground is too hard with frost and ice
  • No work done on the front yard, I don’t know why
  • Tthere is still a hole in the side of my kitchen wall

So at the end of the day they put a wire up and sealed a water pipe! We will see what happens tomorrow!

I rang my brother and basically asked if Jane could stay in the upstairs room as she needed it at the moment. He said yes after I said no kids and on a temporary basis until she sorts herself out. So I am relieved slightly and hope he doesn’t change his mind like last time! I also asked for fudns to buy a car and he will let me know tomorrow if Dad will give me this.

Sue rung and she is buying a car tomorrow so I have to give her 5900 leva and 500 leva from the amount we get from scraping the car for documentations needed to register the car. So I will have about 1000 leva left in the bank plus whatever I get from the scrapping of the smashed car. My phone bill must have cost a fortune last night and there is more to come as I can’t resist ringing my darling, it’s so unfair!

Sacho turned up after work and I told him my wife will be coming on the 11th February and I was very happy. He said that she will have to go and see Rosa as she will be happy to meet her.

Finally I got Jane on the phone after trying most of the afternoon. I knew straight away she wasn’t coming on the 11th she didn’t know why, but she just couldn’t do it! My heart sunk like a lead balloon and I started breaking down again. I can’t face life without Jane and I was so happy of the thought of having her in my arms again, but no. The time wasn’t right for Jane she said. Another long phone call, in fact three, I kept ringing her back to hear her voice and check that she will come here eventually, but not yet. I was left with a faint hope and that’s all.

I have no money, no one that knows wants to know me, that includes Jane, that’s how I feel right now.

It’s been a long day and I still have to do lesson preparations for the morning, all the boxes of teaching resources are still closed right now, I feel that this is becoming a bit of a rat race, but it has to be done to live here!

Not a good day overall.
